WCF Client calling Java web service through a gateway using https, soap1.1, and http and soap headers

I have a client that needs to talk to an XML gateway to get to a backend java service.  I've run the WSDL through the svcutil for the classes and was able to interact with the service when not going through the gateway.

However, the requirements for the gateway are:

  • has to use soap1.1
  • must include username and password in the soap headers
  • must include a SOAPAction in the HTTP headers
  • all communication is over HTTPS.

It seems that wsHttpBinding would satisfy everything if it wasn't for the pesky soap1.1 issue.  What would be the custom configuration bindings that would satisfy the gateway requirements?  I've been experimenting for way too long and can't seem to uncover the magical combination to talk through the gateway.  Any information would be greatly greatly appreciated.
